Cinnamon Swirl Bread and Other Variations

Last post we made Honey Whole Wheat Bread, but you might want to shake things up occasionally. Using the same bread recipe, make Cinnamon Swirl Bread with these changes:

Divide your dough into loaves and roll out the dough like you would for cinnamon rolls.

Then cover generously with cinnamon and sugar. Roll up into your loaf and place in the pans. Be careful to roll tightly so you don't end up with huge holes (air pockets).

Bake the same as wheat bread and enjoy your delicious swirl!

Try some other variations such as adding raisins to your dough while mixing and then a cinnamon swirl. Add 3 Tbsp freshly grated orange peel and 1 cup craisins to the dough for Orange Cranberry Wheat bread. Add nuts, seeds or your favorite other goodies! Go crazy!

While I think my bread is pretty darn good, my sister-in-law, Julie, is the real pantry goddess. She offers fantastic classes regularly at her home and you can read about them on her blog The Polka Dot Pantry. If you go, tell her hi from me!
